How to use xmpp.evolvehq.com

Unread postby PÕQ~David » Wed Jul 29, 2015 3:45 pm

Well some of you might know what is XMPP/Jabber but some might not know about so i explain here how to use EvolveHQ in any OS like Mac OS, Linux, Android even on a old phone that only runs J2ME apps

Here is link to list of all XMPP Client
http://xmpp.org/xmpp-software/clients/

Well before i show there how it's done you need to know few infos
1. your JID will be like USERNAME@HOST my JID is poqdavid@xmpp.evolvehq.com so JID is a mix of USERNAME@HOST so don't confuse it with email.

2. and your password will be the same password that you use to login to Evolve Client

3. after you done setup the XMPP client with you account some Clients detect services given by XMPP server like Groups but some don't so you need to know how to join Groups in XMPP so the host for groups in for Evolve is muc.xmpp.evolvehq.com

4. so after that you need to know the group names how to find it also some Client can give you a list but in case your xmpp client didn't give you the list of group/chat rooms here is how you can get it when you right click on the group tab in Evolve Client there is View Profile... you click on it and opens you a link but link will redirect if you don't stop it so this is the pps group link https://www.evolvehq.com/groups/5950 and the group/chat room name for it will be group-5950

PPS Group = group-5950
PÕQ Clan (Members) = group-5890
PÕQ Clan Recruiting = group-6007

Note that you have to be loged off from Evolve Client you can only use 1 client at a time
Warning: As Evolve said don't remove or add friends using the xmpp client it might not get synced

For Mac OS:
https://adium.im/ or psi-im.org

For Android:
Use Xabber

For Linux:
Well Pidgin

For J2ME:
Try this first then if it didn't work on your phone try the without ZLIB
Bombus (With ZLIB).zip
Bombus With ZLIB

Why would we want to use Jabber rather than the plain 'ol Evolve client? What's the advantage?
